Colophon

Poetic sources single-origin lots and roasts them in small editions, dated to the day. We write each coffee up like a feature — its origin, its process, the people who grew it — because what’s in the cup is a story worth setting in type. Read it like a contents page, and order what you want to read next.

Cover feature

Worka Sakaro, read in full.

A bed of freshly roasted coffee beans, close and warm.

Ethiopia · Yirgacheffe — jasmine, bergamot, white peach, black tea. The lead lot of Issue 01, written up like the feature it is: its washing station, its heirloom varietals, the elevation it grew at.

I · Sourcing

We buy lots, not commodities.

Every coffee here is a single lot from a single washing station or farm — bought by name, traced to the people who grew and processed it. No blends to hide behind, no anonymity in the bag.

Traceability · lot-level
A burlap sack brimming with whole coffee beans.
The lot · by name
II · Roasting

Roasted to the cup, not the crowd.

We roast light to medium, in small editions, to let an origin speak in its own accent. The roast serves the coffee — never the other way around — so what's in the cup tastes of where it came from.

Roast · light to express origin
A flat-lay of a portafilter, fresh grounds and whole beans on warm wood.
Small editions
III · Freshness

Dated like a periodical.

Every bag carries its roast date the way a paper carries a dateline. We roast to order and ship within days, because coffee is perishable writing — best read while it's still fresh.
